M.K. Stalin expressed the hope that DMK would form the government for the 7th time since no State government could match the schemes implemented by them.

Releasing what he described as a “superstar” manifesto for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Sunday (March 29, 2026, DMK president and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin announced the “ Illatharasi scheme” under which all non-Income Tax assessee housewives, will be given a coupon valued at ₹8,000 to purchase or replace household electronic appliances.

Asked whether the government would have funds to implement the new schemes, Mr. Stalin said similar doubts were raised in the 2021 election, but the DMK government fulfilled all its promises. He also announced that the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thoagai for women heads of families will be increased to ₹2,000 from ₹1,000.
